Truck Accidents in Missouri

Saline Co., MO – Two Hurt in Auto Collision on I-70In 2021 alone, the Missouri Department of Transportation reported thousands of crashes involving commercial vehicles. These incidents frequently occur in the early morning hours, as drivers face fatigue, poor visibility, and other hazards.

Truck accidents are especially dangerous due to the size and weight of commercial vehicles. Several factors often contribute to these collisions:

  1. Fatigue – Long hours on the road can lead to exhaustion, significantly impairing reaction times and increasing the risk of accidents. Commercial drivers are encouraged to follow federal rest guidelines to reduce this risk.
  2. Improper Lane Usage – Highways with merging lanes or narrow shoulders often see collisions between large trucks and smaller vehicles. Awareness and proper signaling can help minimize these crashes.
  3. Road Hazards – Poor road conditions, such as icy patches, uneven surfaces, or construction zones, can be particularly treacherous for large vehicles and those traveling near them.
  4. Driver Inexperience – Operators of both commercial and passenger vehicles must exercise caution. Inexperienced drivers are more likely to misjudge distances and blind spots when sharing the road with trucks.
