Jackson County, KS (July 13, 2026) – A Topeka plane accident left a pilot with injuries after a small aircraft crash-landed in a field Monday afternoon in northeast Jackson County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the incident was reported at approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 13 in a remote field south of K-9 Highway between Road Y and Road Z, just east of Whiting.
Jackson County authorities said the aircraft went down in a rural area before catching fire after the emergency landing. Fire crews responded to extinguish the blaze.
Officials reported that the pilot was able to exit the aircraft and walked about a mile to a nearby farmhouse to seek assistance. He was evaluated at the scene by paramedics for injuries. Heinen Brothers Agra Services, a Seneca-based agricultural aviation company, confirmed that one of its aircraft was involved in the incident. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. The Kansas Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
