Harrisonville, MO (January 17, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 49 near mile marker 164 left one man injured and resulted in significant damage to both vehicles involved.

The crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. on January 14. According to authorities, a 2014 Chevrolet driven by a 24-year-old man from Adrian, Missouri, attempted to pass a 2007 Pontiac on the southbound lanes of I-49. During the maneuver, the Chevrolet struck the driver’s side of the Pontiac. This caused the Pontiac to veer off the roadway and overturn.

The 35-year-old driver of the Pontiac, a man from Harrisonville, sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident and was transported by West Peculiar Fire to Research Medical Center for treatment. The Chevrolet sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene, while the Pontiac was totaled and towed away by J’s Southland Tow.

Cass County deputies assisted at the scene, and the incident remains under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
