Car Accident on I-635 Near Merriam Lane in Overland Park, KS

Overland Park, KS (September 30, 2026) – An Overland Park car accident involving two pickup trucks sent a 42-year-old Olathe man to the hospital after a crash on Interstate 635 Tuesday night.

The accident occurred on September 29 at approximately 8:47 p.m. on northbound I-635 near milepost 0.1, about 762 feet south of Merriam Lane. According to the crash report, a 2008 Ford Ranger was traveling north on the ramp from I-35 to I-635 when the collision occurred.

Authorities reported that the driver of the Ford Ranger, Brian W. Wright, 42, of Olathe, lost control of the vehicle due to a medical emergency. The Ranger then spun into a 2019 Ford F-150 driven by Trevor L. Hatfield, 42, of Overland Park.

Wright was injured in the collision and transported to AdventHealth for further medical care. The report indicates that he was wearing a safety restraint at the time of the crash.

Hatfield was also reportedly wearing a safety restraint and was not listed as injured. Neither driver was identified as having additional involvement beyond the crash details provided.

The Ford Ranger was removed from the scene by Dale’s Tow and taken to a tow lot. The crash was investigated under report K237. Authorities did not classify the incident as a hit-and-run or police pursuit. The Kansas Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash.

We hope Brian W. Wright makes a full recovery from his injuries.
