Warrensburg, MO – Three Injured in Crash on Business 13 Blvd

Warrensburg, MO (April 21, 2025) – A violent two-vehicle crash in Johnson County left three people hurt Saturday evening after a failed passing attempt led to a head-on collision along Business 13 Boulevard.

The collision occurred at approximately 5:32 p.m. on April 19, just north of Warrensburg. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2021 Toyota Camry was attempting to pass multiple vehicles on a hill when it struck a 2001 RAM 1500 head-on. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Tip Top towing services.

The Camry, driven by a 25-year-old man from Warrensburg, was heading northbound at the time. The RAM 1500 was traveling southbound, driven by a 37-year-old Warrensburg woman. The crash unfolded when the woman swerved in an attempt to avoid the oncoming Camry—only for both vehicles to swerve at the same time, resulting in a direct collision.

Emergency medical teams with Johnson County Ambulance District arrived quickly and transported all three injured individuals to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment. The male Camry driver sustained minor injuries. The RAM 1500’s driver suffered moderate injuries, and a female passenger riding in the RAM had serious injuries. Her age has not yet been released. The Warrensburg Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department assisted on scene, along with additional Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers. The investigation remains ongoing.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Warrensburg, MO - Three Injured in Crash on Business 13 BlvdCar accidents are an everyday risk for Missouri drivers, with the Missouri Department of Transportation reporting over 130,000 crashes across the state each year. In 2023 alone, nearly 1,000 of those crashes resulted in fatalities, and tens of thousands caused injury. Rural areas like Johnson County often see more serious outcomes due to higher speeds and limited visibility.

Understanding why collisions like these happen is key to avoiding future accidents. Here are some common contributing factors in Missouri crashes:

  • Improper Passing: Passing on hills, curves, or without clear visibility is highly dangerous. Drivers who attempt risky passing maneuvers often misjudge distance and speed, leading to serious head-on crashes like the one in Warrensburg.
  • Driver Distraction: Texting, reaching for objects, or talking on the phone can pull a driver’s attention from the road for just long enough to miss key cues or hazards.
  • Failure to Yield: Intersections and turn lanes can become dangerous when drivers don’t yield properly. This is a leading cause of T-bone collisions.
  • Speeding: Exceeding speed limits reduces a driver’s ability to react in time. Speed also worsens the severity of injuries when accidents do happen.
  • Uninsured Drivers: Driving without insurance, as seen with one driver in this case, puts all parties at greater financial and medical risk following a crash.
