Adrian, MO – Woman Injured in Crash on County Rd 1503

Adrian, MO (June 4, 2025) – A serious crash involving a riding mower and a pickup truck left one woman injured Monday afternoon in Bates County. Reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol show the incident happened at about 2:02 p.m. on June 2 along County Road 1503, just north of County Road 9004.

According to authorities, a 17-year-old male from Adrian, Missouri, was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 southbound on County Road 1503. At the same time, a 58-year-old woman from Butler, Missouri, was operating a 2022 Faris Mower westbound into the roadway. The Ford collided with the mower, causing the mower to overturn and come to rest on the east side of the road facing eastbound. The Ford pickup came to rest in the roadway, facing southbound.

The woman, who was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Bates EMS to Bates County Memorial Hospital. The juvenile driver of the Ford truck was reportedly uninjured and was properly restrained. The Faris Mower was totaled and left at the scene, while the Ford F-150 sustained extensive damage and was removed by Adrian Tow. Master Sergeant B.J. Hamerle, assisted by Corporal R.J. Hastings, is continuing the investigation.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Adrian, MO - Woman Injured in Crash on County Rd 1503Motor vehicle accidents across Missouri affect thousands each year, ranging from minor incidents to more serious crashes that require medical care and recovery time. Data from Missouri shows that rural roads often see a significant number of these incidents, highlighting the importance of cautious driving in less populated areas.

Understanding more about accident causes helps put the situation in perspective. Here are a few common causes of accidents across Missouri:

  • Failure to Yield: One of the leading causes of crashes, especially at intersections or when entering a roadway. Drivers not yielding can cause severe side-impact collisions, which may lead to significant injuries.
  • Speeding: Traveling over the posted speed limit increases the likelihood of a crash. Speeding reduces a driver’s ability to respond quickly to sudden obstacles or unexpected actions from other motorists.
  • Distracted Driving: Distractions like texting, eating, or adjusting the radio divert attention away from the road. Even a momentary lapse can lead to serious consequences.
  • Impaired Driving: Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs continues to be a major problem in Missouri. Impaired drivers have reduced reaction times and poor judgment, both contributing to more severe accidents.

Learning these causes reinforces why all drivers need to remain alert and follow road rules carefully.
