Tereso Baeza Injured in Merriam Car Accident on I-35 near MM 227.6

Merriam, KS (December 27, 2025) – A Merriam car accident left one person injured on Friday evening after a two-vehicle crash on I-35 Southbound near milepost 227.6.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene at approximately 5:45 p.m. on December 26. Their preliminary investigation determined that a 2004 Toyota Tundra and a 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck collided along the roadway, after approaching an area with stopped traffic, approximately 63 feet southwest of West Frontage Road.

The Toyota driver, 42-year-old Tereso Baeza of Kansas City, Kansas, suffered injuries and was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Two 14-year-old passengers in his vehicle, Asael Baeza Flores and Nestor Zadata, were not hurt.

The driver of the Ram 1500, identified as 50-year-old Joseph Prosser from Lowry, Missouri, was also unharmed. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Pro Tow. Everyone involved was properly restrained. The cause of the Merriam car accident remains under investigation at this time.

We hope Mr. Baeza recovers fully from the injuries sustained in this accident.

Car Accidents in Kansas

Treso Baeza Injured in Merriam Car Accident on I-35 near MM 227.6Thousands of collisions happen every year on Kansas roads, and a significant number occur in places like Merriam, where interstates intersect with heavy suburban traffic.

According to state data, over 13,000 injury crashes were reported in one recent year alone. A Merriam car accident on I-35, like this recent rear-end crash, is not uncommon. These high-traffic zones see many sudden-stop scenarios that frequently lead to injuries requiring hospital care and follow-up treatment.

Rear-end collisions can lead to painful and lasting injuries. Even when wearing a seatbelt, drivers and passengers may suffer from whiplash, soft tissue damage, or spinal cord injuries. Treatment for these conditions, like physical therapy and rehabilitation, can be expensive and time-consuming. In some cases, the effects may last months or even years after the crash.

Insurance companies may not offer fair settlements for injuries caused by a car accident. They often use tactics to downplay injury severity or delay claims. Victims may be left facing long recovery periods without the financial support they need. If you were hurt, you have the right to pursue compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering, and lost wages.
