Merriam, KS (March 4, 2026) – A Merriam car accident took place on Tuesday, March 3, leaving two people injured.
Reports provided by the Kansas Highway Patrol show that at approximately 3:00 p.m., a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country and a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer were traveling in the third lane, just south of Antioch Road. According to the crash narrative, as forward traffic began to decelerate, the Chrysler, driven by Thomas Ward, struck the rear of the Chevrolet, driven by Shae Plattenburg.
Both drivers sustained injuries in the collision. Shae Plattenburg was transported to KU Medical Center for evaluation, while Thomas Ward was treated at the scene.
Both vehicles were significantly damaged and were removed from the interstate by Santa Fe Tow. Investigators confirmed that both drivers were using their safety restraints at the time of the impact.
