Williamsburg, KS (March 5, 2026) – A 46-year-old Kansas City man was hospitalized with serious injuries following a late-night rear-end truck accident in Williamsburg on Northbound Interstate 35 on Tuesday, March 3.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at around 10:15 p.m., roughly five miles southwest of Williamsburg, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a 2011 Volvo semitrailer collided. The force of the collision sent the pickup truck off the roadway and into the eastern ditch.
The driver of the pickup, Chester Wood, was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Officials noted that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The driver of the semitrailer, Ion Cirlan, 42, was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles. The Kansas Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
