According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, a 2015 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on SE California Avenue when it crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2005 Acura TSX head-on. The Toyota Corolla was driven by 37-year-old Lesbia Perez Larios of Topeka. She was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. A passenger in the Toyota, 25-year-old Manuel Ramirez of Topeka, was also taken to Stormont Vail Hospital with reported injuries. Both occupants were wearing safety restraints at the time of the collision.
The second vehicle involved, a 2005 Acura TSX, was driven by 32-year-old William Marsee of Merriam. Marsee reported possible injuries, including complaints of pain, following the crash. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
