Emporia, KS (December 26, 2025) – Authorities are investigating a fatal Emporia house fire that claimed one person’s life on Tuesday afternoon, December 23.
According to reports from the Emporia Fire Department, a mobile home located in the 800 block of Clark Street caught on fire under unknown circumstances. Authorities arrived at the scene to find the west side of the Lot 5 mobile home completely engulfed in flames. Portions of the north and south walls were already burned through. Firefighters worked to contain the flames and prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby lots. Authorities confirmed that one person was located deceased inside the residence once crews gained access to the interior.
Authorities remained on the scene for several hours as investigators examined potential ignition sources and structural damage. Battalion Chief Ryan Conley confirmed that the cause of the fatal Emporia house fire remains under investigation. The identity of the victim will be released once next of kin have been notified.
