Kansas City, MO (January 23, 2025) – A pedestrian was left with serious injuries on Wednesday afternoon, January 22, after being struck by a Kansas City Parks and Recreation vehicle in downtown Kansas City.
Authorities reported that the collision occurred just before 2:00 p.m. on Grand Boulevard near 5th Street. According to the Kansas City Police Department, a city-operated Ford F350 pickup truck was parked on the northbound curb when the driver shifted into drive and began moving north.
As the vehicle started forward, a pedestrian positioned in front of the truck was hit and pulled completely underneath. Emergency crews responded and transported the injured pedestrian to a local hospital. Medical personnel confirmed that the individual sustained serious injuries in the incident.
Police stated that the truck driver showed no signs of impairment. Investigators are still reviewing the circumstances leading up to the collision.
