According to reports, the crash involved a 2016 Kia Forte and a 2016 Kenworth T680. The incident unfolded when the Kia struck the side of the Kenworth, prompting the driver of the Kia to overcorrect. The overcorrection caused the vehicle to run off the right side of the road and overturn.

He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Emergency responders called for a life flight to transport him to Research Medical Center for advanced medical care.

Authorities with the Bates County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A assisted at the scene. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family during this time, and we wish him a full recovery.

Truck Accidents in Missouri

Bates Co., MO – Driver Seriously Hurt in Rollover Crash on I-49Missouri sees thousands of accidents involving large commercial trucks each year, many of which result in severe injuries or fatalities. Commercial vehicles such as semi-trucks often share interstates with smaller passenger vehicles, and collisions between the two can be catastrophic.

Some of the leading causes of crashes involving trucks include:

  • Overcorrection – Drivers who lose control of their vehicle and overcorrect often create dangerous situations. This is especially true at highway speeds, where the risk of rollovers increases significantly.
  • Blind Spots – Large trucks have extensive blind spots, making it difficult for truck drivers to see smaller vehicles alongside them. This can lead to sideswipe or merging collisions.
  • Highway Speeds – High-speed accidents involving trucks often result in serious or fatal injuries. The massive size and weight of commercial trucks amplify the force of collisions.
  • Driver Fatigue – Truck drivers frequently operate under tight schedules and may experience fatigue, which can impair their reaction times and decision-making.
  • Vehicle Instability – Rollovers are common in high-speed crashes, particularly when vehicles veer off the road or experience sudden directional changes.

Victims of truck-related crashes should seek immediate legal guidance to protect their rights and explore their options for financial recovery.
