Shawnee, KS (August 13, 2026) – One person was transported to an area hospital with injuries following a rear-end Shawnee car accident on Tuesday morning, August 11, after a rear-end crash along Kansas Highway 7.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 6:25 a.m. on August 11 on KS Highway 7 southbound at milepost 164.2 near 43rd St in Shawnee. Troopers reported that a 2015 Jeep Cherokee driven by Chloe Janssen, 20, of Shawnee, was traveling southbound on KS Highway 7 as it approached 43rd Street. A 2013 Nissan Rogue driven by Yimi Edwards, 46, of Kansas City, Kansas, was also traveling southbound and had entered the designated turn lane to head east onto 43rd Street.
Authorities stated that the Jeep struck the rear of the Nissan, causing heavy front-end damage to the Jeep and heavy rear-end damage to the Nissan. Chloe Janssen reported possible injuries but was not transported from the scene. Yimi Edwards sustained injuries and was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital for additional medical care.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. The vehicles were removed from the scene by Sunflower Tow Service. The crash remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
