Woman Seriously Injured in Kansas City Car Accident on I-635

Kansas City, KS (August 17, 2026) – Officials confirmed that one person suffered serious injuries in a Kansas City car accident that occurred early Sunday morning, August 16, on Interstate 635.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 1:52 a.m. on westbound I-635 near mile marker 1.9, about three-quarters of a mile south of Metro. Investigators reported that a 2024 Chevrolet Trax was traveling southbound when it collided with a 2009 Dodge Charger.

The Chevrolet was driven by Janee Patrice Stokes, 38, of Shawnee, Kansas. She sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to KU Medical Center for treatment.
