Warrensburg, MO – Two Drivers Hurt After Crash on MO-13

Warrensburg, MO (April 10, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash occurred Monday evening that left both drivers with minor injuries. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 7:20 p.m. on April 7.

The crash took place along northbound MO-13 at the intersection with Route Y in Johnson County. Investigators say a 2010 GMC Yukon was heading south when the driver attempted to turn in front of a northbound 2016 Hyundai Elantra. The Hyundai struck the Yukon, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles. Each was towed from the scene by Tip Top Tow.

A 42-year-old woman from Warsaw, MO, who was driving the Hyundai, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center for further care. The 47-year-old man from Independence, MO, who was behind the wheel of the Yukon, also sustained minor injuries but did not require transport. Both drivers had been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.

We hope both individuals recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Warrensburg, MO - Two Drivers Hurt After Crash on MO-13In Missouri, thousands of car crashes occur every year, many of which involve injuries ranging from minor to severe. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, over 150,000 reported crashes across the state in 2023. Of those, more than 40,000 resulted in injuries. With busy highways and rural roads, Missouri drivers face a mix of driving conditions that contribute to collisions.

It’s important to recognize some of the common injuries people often sustain in traffic collisions:

  • Soft Tissue Injuries: Whiplash, sprains, and strains are very common in crashes, especially rear-end and side-impact collisions. These injuries may not always show up immediately but can cause long-term discomfort and limit mobility if untreated.
  • Concussions and Head Injuries: Even with seat belts and airbags, the impact of a collision can cause head trauma. Concussions may occur from hitting the steering wheel, dashboard, or side window. These injuries can affect memory, focus, and overall brain function.
  • Fractures and Broken Bones: High-impact collisions often result in broken bones. Arms, legs, ribs, and wrists are particularly vulnerable during a crash. Recovery time can vary greatly depending on the severity and location of the fracture.
  • Back and Spine Injuries: Injuries to the spine or discs in the back can be especially serious. Herniated discs or spinal cord trauma can lead to chronic pain, limited movement, or, in severe cases, paralysis.
  • Psychological Trauma: Being involved in a crash isn’t just physically jarring—many people experience emotional distress, anxiety, or PTSD after a collision. Mental health care is just as important as physical treatment in recovery.
