Around 11:30 a.m., a 2018 GMC Sierra driven by 75-year-old Steven Quick of Topeka attempted to pass a commercial truck but veered into the ditch when time and space ran out. As the GMC re-entered the roadway, it collided with a northbound 2007 Toyota Corolla operated by Brittany Charboneau, 31, of Lebo. The impact also caused Charboneau’s vehicle to strike a 2023 Kenworth tractor hauling an oversized load.
Steven Quick and his passenger, 74-year-old Audrey Quick, were both injured and taken to Coffey County Hospital. Charboneau was transported to Stormont Vail for further care.
