Topeka, KS (July 10, 2026) – A Topeka pedestrian accident left one man with serious injuries Wednesday night after he was struck by a vehicle in western Shawnee County.
According to authorities, the collision occurred at approximately 10:01 p.m. on July 8 in the 1800 block of S.W. Carlson Road in the Willard community west of Topeka. Investigators said a gray 2014 Chevrolet passenger car was traveling northbound on Carlson Road when it struck a 20-year-old man who was in the roadway tending to a tractor and trailer.
The injured pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to a local hospital for additional medical treatment. The 29-year-old driver of the Chevrolet was not reported to have been injured in the crash. Carlson Road, which serves as the Shawnee and Wabaunsee county line in the area, was temporarily closed while emergency personnel assisted at the scene and investigators gathered evidence.
The crash remains under investigation by the Topeka Police Department.
