Manhattan, KS (September 9, 2026) – A 19-year-old driver was transported to an area hospital after two vehicles collided in a Manhattan car accident on Bluemont Ave late September 7.
At approximately 10:09 p.m., authorities were called to the 400 block of Bluemont Ave for reports of a two-car crash. Riley County Police officials identified both adult drivers involved in the collision.
According to officials, 25-year-old Kirsten Wallace-Newsome of Manhattan was driving a Chevrolet Camaro when it collided with a Honda Accord driven by 19-year-old Sohil Mamon, also of Manhattan.
Mamon suffered injuries in the crash and was transported to Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan for treatment. The available information did not provide further details about his injuries or indicate that Wallace-Newsome required hospital treatment.
Police issued Wallace-Newsome a citation for an unsafe lane change or merging following the collision. Additional information about the circumstances leading to the crash was not provided.
