Smithville, MO (January 29, 2026) – A fatal house fire broke out Wednesday evening, January 28, in Smithville, Missouri, leaving one person dead, according to local police. The incident happened at around 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, after Platte County Dispatch received a report of an explosion followed by a fire inside a home.
