Overland Park, KS (September 27, 2026) – An Overland Park car accident involving four vehicles on I-35 left two women injured and sent them to the hospital on September 25.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. on northbound I-35 near mile marker 227.2, south of 75th St in Johnson County. According to information from the Kansas Highway Patrol, four vehicles became involved after traffic ahead suddenly slowed.
Reports indicate that an unidentified vehicle was traveling northbound in the number one lane behind a 2007 Saturn Ion driven by 23-year-old Diane Y. Fiscal-Lopez of Kansas City, Kansas. When a vehicle ahead of the Saturn braked suddenly, Fiscal-Lopez took evasive action and moved onto the left shoulder.
The unidentified vehicle followed the Saturn onto the shoulder and struck its rear passenger side before leaving the scene. The impact caused Fiscal-Lopez to lose control of the Saturn and spin into the number two lane, where it collided with a 2012 Infiniti M37X driven by 21-year-old Jennifher N. Leon-Membreno of Mission.
The Infiniti briefly lost control and then struck a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by 70-year-old Marla M. Humble of Olathe. Leon-Membreno regained control of the Infiniti and brought it to a stop on the right shoulder.
Fiscal-Lopez and her passenger, 41-year-old Matilde Lopez-Montiel of Kansas City, Kansas, were injured in the accident. Both women were taken to Overland Park Regional for medical care. Leon-Membreno and Humble were not reported injured. All four identified women involved in the accident were wearing safety restraints.
The Saturn was removed by Paisano Auto Sales and Service. Dale’s Tow removed both the Infiniti and Mercury from the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
