Sedalia, MO (February 14, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision occurred on Route D west of US Highway 65 at around 7:27 p.m. on February 12, leaving one person injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old woman from Greenfield was driving eastbound in a 2003 Buick LeSabre when her vehicle slid on the roadway. She attempted to correct her path but overcorrected, causing her vehicle to veer into the westbound lane. As a result, a 1997 GMC Sierra traveling westbound, driven by a 56-year-old man from Sedalia, collided with her vehicle.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene. Emergency medical personnel transported the female driver to Bothwell Regional Health Center with minor injuries. The male driver was not reported to have been injured. Authorities were assisted at the scene by Troopers J.W. Hunter and T.D. Jackson. Investigators continue to look into the circumstances of the crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we wish her a swift recovery.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Sedalia, MO – One Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Route DMissouri sees thousands of car accidents each year, with many resulting in injuries and fatalities. The Missouri Department of Transportation reports that in recent years, the state has averaged over 150,000 crashes annually. Factors such as weather conditions, driver errors, and road design can all contribute to collisions.

When crashes occur, understanding the common causes can help drivers stay safer on the roads. Here are some frequent factors in Missouri car accidents:

  • Slippery Roads – Wet or icy road conditions can make it harder for drivers to maintain control of their vehicles. Many accidents occur when drivers are unable to stop or maneuver properly.
  • Overcorrection – When drivers react too aggressively to a skid or drift, they can lose control and enter another lane or off the roadway. Overcorrection is a leading cause of crashes, especially on rural highways.
  • Lack of Seatbelt Use – Failing to wear a seatbelt significantly increases the risk of serious injury in a crash. Missouri law requires seatbelt use, but some drivers and passengers still do not comply.
  • Uninsured Drivers – A concerning number of motorists in Missouri drive without insurance, which can make recovery for accident victims more difficult. Without proper coverage, victims may struggle to pay for medical bills and vehicle repairs.
