Two Women Hurt in Car Accident on I-435 Near W 87th St in Lenexa, KS

Lenexa, KS (August 28, 2026) – A rear-end Lenexa car accident involving a 2009 Saturn Vue and a 2025 Buick Envision on northbound Interstate 435 left two women injured on August 27.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:04 p.m. near mile marker 2.8, about one-quarter mile north of West 87th Street. According to the crash narrative, the Buick Envision was approaching slow or stopped traffic and suddenly braked as the Saturn Vue approached from behind. The Saturn did not stop before striking the rear of the Buick.

The driver of the Saturn, identified as 34-year-old Karina Sandoval of Kansas City, Missouri, suffered injuries and was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for medical care. The driver of the Buick, 68-year-old Cecilia A. Clair, was also listed as injured in the crash and transported to an unknown medical facility.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.

We hope Karina Sandoval and Cecilia A. Clair recover quickly from their injuries.

Car Accidents in Kansas

Two Women Injured in Lenexa Car Accident on I-435Being involved in a Lenexa car accident can disrupt nearly every part of your life. Along with dealing with painful injuries, you may be unable to work, keep up with your bills, or handle everyday responsibilities. Knowing your rights and the legal options available to you after a crash in Kansas can help you make informed decisions and protect your ability to pursue fair compensation.

What should I do if the other driver’s insurance company contacts me?

After a Lenexa car accident, an insurance adjuster may request information about the collision, your injuries, medical treatment, or other circumstances. Keep records of communications and be careful about providing information you are uncertain about or agreeing to a resolution before the extent of your injuries and losses is known. An attorney can review insurance correspondence, explain what the insurer is requesting, and communicate with the carrier when representation is appropriate.

How can I prove that the other person caused the crash?

Evidence from a Lenexa car accident may include the police crash report, photographs, witness information, vehicle damage, roadway evidence, surveillance footage, and other available records. Medical documentation can separately establish the injuries and treatment associated with the incident. Because evidence can disappear or become harder to obtain over time, preserving available photographs, documents, contact information, and insurance records can help an attorney evaluate how the crash occurred and who may bear legal responsibility.

What if my injuries prevent me from returning to my previous job?

When injuries from a Lenexa car accident interfere with employment, financial losses may extend beyond wages missed immediately after the collision. Depending on the circumstances, records concerning income, work restrictions, employment history, medical limitations, and future earning ability may become relevant to an injury claim. Victims should keep employer communications, pay records, medical restrictions, and other documents showing how their injuries have affected their ability to work and earn income during recovery.

Can my social media activity affect my accident claim?

Social media activity after a Lenexa car accident may become relevant if an insurance company or opposing party reviews public posts while evaluating an injury claim. Photographs, videos, comments, location information, and descriptions of daily activities may be interpreted without the full context surrounding a person’s medical condition. Injured people should be thoughtful about what they make publicly available while a claim is pending and should discuss questions about online activity with their attorney.
