Platte, MO (December 24, 2024) – A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 northbound, just south of Northwest 72nd Street, left three people injured early Saturday morning, December 21.
The accident, which occurred around 1:44 a.m., began when an unknown vehicle struck the rear of a 1999 Jeep Wrangler in the right lane. The Jeep spun into the left lane, where it was subsequently struck by a 2010 Honda Fit and then by a 2025 International truck that crested a nearby hill. The impact caused the International to collide with the median.
The Jeep’s driver, a 19-year-old man from Parkville, Missouri, sustained minor injuries, while a 19-year-old female passenger from Kansas City, Missouri, suffered serious injuries. Both were taken to North Kansas City Hospital, the latter by Kansas City Fire and the former by Kansas City South Fire. The driver of the International truck, a 58-year-old man from Atlanta, Georgia, was also transported with injuries. Multiple members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol provided assistance at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
