Platte Co., MO – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-29 Leaves Woman Injured

Platte County, MO (January 27, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision occurred late Saturday evening on Interstate 29 at the 19-mile marker, leaving one person injured and two vehicles severely damaged. The accident took place at approximately 9:45 p.m. on January 25.

According to reports, the crash happened when the driver of a 2023 Hyundai Elantra, a 26-year-old male from Blair, Nebraska, began to fall asleep and collided with the rear towed unit of a 2022 Volvo tractor-trailer. Shortly after, a 2004 Ford Ranger, driven by an 18-year-old male from De Kalb, Missouri, struck the rear of the Hyundai.

The crash left a 25-year-old female passenger in the Hyundai with minor injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident and was transported by Central Platte Ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital for medical evaluation. The drivers of all three vehicles were uninjured.

The Hyundai Elantra and Ford Ranger were both totaled and towed from the scene. The Volvo tractor-trailer sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. Authorities, including the Platte County Sheriff’s Department, continue to investigate the accident.
