Pettis, MO (June 7, 2025) – Midday traffic was disrupted in Pettis County following a two-vehicle crash on US 65 Highway at Missouri 52 around 12:20 p.m. on June 6. According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2025 Buick Enclave and a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, both sustaining total damage and requiring towing from the scene.

Preliminary findings show that the Buick Enclave, traveling westbound, entered the path of the southbound Chevrolet Equinox and was struck. The Buick Enclave was driven by a 77-year-old man from Gravois Mills, Missouri, who was accompanied by a 72-year-old female passenger. Both suffered minor injuries and were transported to Bothwell Medical Center by the Cole Camp Ambulance District. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox, a 60-year-old woman from Cole Camp, Missouri, also sustained minor injuries and was transported by Pettis County Ambulance to Bothwell Medical Center for further evaluation.

Assistance at the scene was provided by Trooper J.W. Miller and the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office. Both vehicles were removed by local towing companies, Tollivers Towing and InMotion Towing, due to extensive damage. Authorities continue to investigate the sequence of events that led to the crash.

We hope those hurt in this crash recover rapidly.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Pettis, MO - US 65 Hwy Crash Leaves Three HurtAccidents in Missouri can occur unexpectedly, often leading to physical injuries and significant vehicle damage. In recent years, Missouri has reported a steady number of motor vehicle accidents. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, over 900 fatalities occur annually due to roadway accidents statewide. Many of these incidents involve intersections or highways where traffic volumes are higher. Staying informed about local traffic laws and maintaining safe driving habits can help reduce risks on Missouri roadways.

Learning about what frequently leads to accidents can help drivers avoid them. Here are common causes of crashes:

  • Failure to Yield: When drivers do not give the right of way at intersections or when merging, it can lead to serious accidents. Right-of-way violations are a frequent cause of crashes, especially at busy highway crossings.
  • Distracted Driving: From texting to adjusting the radio, distractions take a driver’s focus off the road. Even a brief glance away can result in missing important cues, such as traffic signals or sudden stops.
  • Speeding: Driving above the posted limit or too fast for road conditions remains a leading factor in many accidents. Higher speeds reduce the time drivers have to react and increase the severity of impacts.
  • Improper Lane Changes: Failing to signal or check blind spots when switching lanes can cause collisions. Being cautious and deliberate during lane changes is crucial for safe driving.
  • Driving Under the Influence: Alcohol and drugs impair judgment and reaction time, significantly raising the risk of a crash. Missouri continues to see a troubling number of DUI-related accidents each year.
