Peculiar, MO (January 16, 2024) – A two-vehicle accident occurred late Tuesday morning, January 14, in Cass County, leaving one person injured. The crash took place at approximately 11:10 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Highway 49 near the 168-mile marker.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2003 Dodge Caravan was stopped in traffic when a 2023 Toyota Highlander traveling in the same direction struck the rear of the Caravan. The force of the collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles, and they were towed from the scene.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan, identified as a 60-year-old woman from Clinton, Missouri, sustained injuries in the crash. Emergency responders with South Metro Fire and EMS provided on-site medical care before transporting her to Research Medical Center for further treatment. The driver of the Toyota Highlander, a 78-year-old Wheatland man, was reportedly uninjured.
The collision caused traffic delays in the area as crews worked to clear the scene. Law enforcement officers, along with South Metro Fire and EMS, were present to assist with the investigation and cleanup. The incident remains under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
