Platte Woods, MO (July 12, 2026) – A Platte Woods car accident left one man injured early Friday morning along Interstate 29 in Platte County.

According to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, which assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the scene, the collision happened at approximately 5:15 a.m. on July 10 along Interstate 29 northbound at the 7.0 mile marker near Platte Woods.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the crash involved a 2024 Kenworth and a 2014 GMC Terrain, both traveling northbound. Investigators said the GMC Terrain swerved to avoid a vehicle that had stopped in the roadway because of an earlier crash. Moments later, the Kenworth struck the rear of the GMC.

The Kenworth was driven by a 52-year-old man from Claycomo, Missouri, while the GMC Terrain was operated by a 52-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

The driver of the GMC sustained moderate injuries and was transported by EMS to North Kansas City Hospital for additional treatment. The Kenworth driver was not reported to have suffered injuries.

Authorities said the GMC sustained extensive damage while the Kenworth received moderate damage. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Express Tow of Platte City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
