Liberty, MO (August 16, 2026) – Officials confirmed that an 18-year-old woman was injured in a Liberty truck accident that occurred on Saturday, August 15, along Interstate 35 in Clay County.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 8:50 a.m. on southbound I-35 near the 21.4-mile marker. Authorities reported that a 2005 Ford Focus and a 2023 Peterbilt 579 tractor-trailer were involved in the crash. The Missouri State Highway Patrol stated that the Ford collided with the Peterbilt, then traveled off the roadway and crashed into a ditch. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.
The Ford Focus was driven by an 18-year-old woman from Kearney, Missouri. She sustained injuries and was transported by Kearney Fire personnel to Liberty Hospital for medical treatment. The Peterbilt was operated by a 46-year-old man from Valley Park, Missouri. He was not reported injured, and the commercial truck sustained minor damage before being driven from the scene. The Ford was declared a total loss and towed from the crash site.
The collision remains under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
