Olathe, KS – Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Old 56 Hwy & Chestnut St

Olathe, KS (October 22, 2025) – A tragic pedestrian accident claimed the life of a 36-year-old man on Sunday night, October 19, in Olathe.

According to the Olathe Police Department, officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle around 8:37 p.m. near Old 56 Highway and Chestnut Street. When emergency crews arrived, they found the victim, identified as Aureliano Gonzalez-Sanchez, suffering from critical injuries.

Paramedics provided immediate medical treatment and transported Gonzalez-Sanchez to a nearby hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead. The driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators, according to the department’s Community Outreach Officer, Sean Wilkes.

Authorities closed portions of the roadway Sunday night while the Olathe Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit examined the scene. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the collision, including visibility, speed, and pedestrian movement in the area at the time of impact.
