Johnson County, KS (February 18, 2026) – A three-vehicle Merriam car accident along southbound Interstate 35 near Shawnee Mission Parkway left one woman injured Wednesday afternoon.
According to the crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, at approximately 2:46 p.m. on February 18, a 2021 Subaru Forester, a 2020 Honda CR-V, and a 2015 Honda CR-Z were all traveling southbound on I-35 at the time of the incident. Authorities stated that the Subaru Forester was traveling in lane two, the Honda CR-V in lane three, and the Honda CR-Z in lane four.
During the sequence of events, the Subaru made contact with the Honda CR-V, which then struck the Honda CR-Z. The Subaru subsequently left the roadway to the left and collided with a barrier wall.
The driver of the Subaru, 38-year-old Rachel Naomi Beser-Brookes of Overland Park, Kansas, sustained injuries in the crash. She was transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital for treatment. Officials reported that she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Honda CR-V, 23-year-old Kaitlin Elizabeth Mack of Overland Park, Kansas, did not report apparent injuries at the scene. The driver of the Honda CR-Z, 28-year-old Alister Tate Anderson of Topeka, Kansas, also did not report apparent injuries. Tow services removed the Subaru and Honda CR-V from the scene, while the Honda CR-Z did not require towing. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
