Kansas City, KS (August 19, 2026) – A Kansas City motorcycle accident left a 32-year-old man with serious injuries Monday afternoon, August 17, on Interstate 70 involving an SUV that left the scene.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 70 near the ramp to northbound Interstate 635.
Authorities reported that a Hyundai SUV and a 2026 Yamaha motorcycle were traveling in separate lanes when the motorcycle passed the SUV. The vehicles then collided, causing the rider to lose control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck a guardrail before coming to rest on the shoulder of the off-ramp.
The motorcycle was operated by a 32-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center with serious injuries.
The SUV involved in the collision left the scene, and the driver has not yet been identified. The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the hit-and-run crash.
