Lone Jack, MO (May 14, 2026) – A Lone Jack car accident early Tuesday morning left two adult drivers injured following a rear-end collision in Johnson County. The crash happened at approximately 6:18 a.m. on May 12 along US 59 at NW 1971 Road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Trooper M. A. Harris investigated the incident. Authorities reported that a 2013 Hyundai was traveling eastbound when it overtook and struck the rear of a 2020 Ford that was also heading eastbound.
The 24-year-old male driver of the Hyundai, from Excelsior Springs, Missouri, was not wearing a safety device at the time of the collision. His vehicle sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Elite Tow. He suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center for additional treatment.
The second driver, a 74-year-old male from Wheatland, Missouri, was wearing a safety device. His 2020 Ford sustained minor damage and was also towed by Elite Tow. He suffered minor injuries and was transported by Lone Jack EMS to Centerpoint Hospital for further evaluation.
Investigators stated the collision occurred as the Hyundai overtook and made contact with the rear of the Ford. Traffic in the area was affected during the early morning hours as emergency personnel worked to assist the injured and clear the roadway. The crash remains under investigation.
