Lexington, MO – Fatal Head-On Collision on US-24 Leaves One Dead

Lexington, MO (January 28, 2025) – A head-on collision occurred late Sunday night on January 26 along US Highway 24, half a mile east of County Farm Rd in Lafayette County. The crash, reported at approximately 11:00 p.m., involved two vehicles and left one man dead while four others sustained various injuries.

According to authorities, a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic traveling eastbound crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a westbound 1996 Ford Explorer. The impact caused the Chevrolet Sonic to veer off the roadway while the Ford Explorer overturned, coming to rest upside down.

The driver of the Chevrolet Sonic, a 34-year-old man from Lexington, Missouri, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Lafayette County Deputy T. Fyffe at 11:19 p.m. The man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Ford Explorer carried four occupants, all from Gladstone, Missouri, except one. The driver, a 19-year-old female, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment. A juvenile male occupant and a 22-year-old male sustained minor injuries, while a 26-year-old male from Opelika, Alabama, suffered moderate injuries. All were transported to Centerpoint Medical Center.

Investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Major Crash Investigation Unit continue to examine the events that led to this collision.
