Lenexa, KS (January 21, 2026) – A Lenexa car accident led to injuries for three drivers after a multi-vehicle collision on Tuesday afternoon. The crash occurred on January 20 at approximately 4:55 p.m. along northbound Interstate 35 near Quivira Road in Johnson County.
Investigators confirmed that traffic had slowed when a 2015 Nissan Altima collided with the rear of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, pushing it into a Ford F-150. Emergency personnel responded quickly, and two people were transported to Overland Park Regional for medical care. Ernest Oliver, 55, of Kansas City, Kansas, suffered serious injuries and was not wearing a seatbelt. Matthew Vanhatten, 47, of Shawnee, was also hospitalized with suspected minor injuries. Steven Gregory, 68, of Olathe, reported pain but was not transported. The Lenexa Police Department is handling the investigation.
All vehicles were towed from the scene by Allied Towing. Traffic backups occurred while crews worked to clear the area and assist the injured.
