Lee’s Summit, MO (May 8, 2025) – A mid-afternoon crash along United States Highway 50 left one man injured and caused major vehicle damage near Lee’s Summit on May 7.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 3:08 p.m. in the westbound lanes of US 50, just west of Missouri Route 7 in Jackson County. Authorities reported that the crash began when a 2014 Nissan Versa, driven by a 27-year-old man from Lee’s Summit, slowed down after encountering an animal in the roadway. The vehicle struck the animal before being rear-ended by a 2012 Hyundai Accent, driven by a 50-year-old man from Blue Springs.
The impact caused the Nissan to veer off the left side of the highway, while the Hyundai remained in the roadway. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Elite Tow.
Emergency crews from Jackson County Fire transported the Nissan’s driver to Research Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was not reported as injured at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Troopers C.S. Kutzner and S.W. Wulser assisted in managing the accident and clearing the scene.
