Lee’s Summit, MO – 1 Injured After Crash on I-470 at 9 MM

Lee’s Summit, MO (June 3, 2025) – Emergency crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash that occurred on eastbound Interstate 470 near the 9.0-mile marker at around 10:17 a.m. on June 2. According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2016 Nissan Murano and a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage were involved in the incident.

Initial findings show that the Nissan Murano, driven by a 48-year-old woman from Mexico, Missouri, struck the rear of the Mitsubishi Mirage, operated by a 26-year-old man from Shawnee, Kansas. After the impact, the Nissan veered off the left side of the roadway and collided with a cable barrier, while the Mitsubishi traveled off the right side and came to a rest.

The driver of the Murano sustained minor injuries despite using a seatbelt and was transported by Lee’s Summit Fire Department to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Mirage was reportedly uninjured. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were removed from the scene by separate tow companies. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper S. W. Wulser, with assistance from Master Sergeant R. S. Smith.
