Kansas City, KS (September 16, 2026) – A Kansas City motorcycle accident sent two people to the hospital on September 15 after a shipping container fell from a Freightliner trailer and created a hazard on westbound I-70.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. near I-70 and 18th St in Wyandotte County. A 2017 Freightliner Cascadia driven by 55-year-old Robert Lee Martin of Kansas City, Missouri, was traveling west while pulling a 2012 Cheetah trailer. The crash report states that the shipping container was not secured and slid from the trailer into the travel lanes.
Natalie Chanelle Anderson-Davis, 44, of Independence, Missouri, was traveling west in a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. She attempted to avoid the container but sideswiped it and spun out. The Hyundai came to rest on the inside shoulder facing the opposite direction. Anderson-Davis suffered injuries and was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center.
A 2001 Kawasaki Voyager operated by 28-year-old Uriel Abisahi Nunez Buron of Kansas City, Kansas, also approached the container. According to the report, Nunez Buron attempted to brake but lost control due to weather conditions and fell from the motorcycle. He suffered injuries and was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was wearing a helmet.
Martin was listed as having no apparent injuries. The Freightliner, Hyundai, and Kawasaki were removed from the scene by towing companies.
