Kansas City, MO (May 29, 2025) – Several people were hospitalized and one person remains in critical condition following a multi-vehicle collision that occurred late Tuesday morning in Kansas City. The crash happened just before 11 a.m. on May 27 near the intersection of Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and Troost Avenue.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Kansas City Police Department, a white Volkswagen Tiguan was headed southbound on Troost Avenue when it veered into oncoming traffic at the intersection with Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. The vehicle collided head-on with a black Volkswagen Tiguan traveling north.
The force of the initial impact caused the white Volkswagen to strike a white BMW X3. That collision caused the BMW to spin and strike a northbound black Dodge Challenger. A Dodge Charger also sustained damage after it was hit by flying debris from the crash.
Tragically, an unrestrained rear-seat passenger in the white Volkswagen was ejected and rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver and front passenger of the same vehicle were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the black Volkswagen Tiguan and a rear-seat passenger in the BMW were injured and transported as well. The drivers of the BMW, Challenger, and Charger were not hurt.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are examining whether impairment was a factor in the crash.
