Kansas City, MO – Multi-Vehicle Rear-End Collision on I-70

Kansas City, MO (19, 2025) – Just after 2:35 p.m., emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle accident on westbound I‑70 near the 17.4‑mile marker. At least one person was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

Late in the afternoon on June 17, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2012 Ford Fusion collided with a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Both vehicles were traveling west when the Tahoe slowed for stopped traffic and was struck from behind by the Fusion. The impact caused the Fusion to come to rest on the left shoulder and left the Tahoe facing east in the left lane. The driver of the Ford, a 20‑year‑old male from Blue Springs, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by AMR EMS to Centerpoint Medical Center. The 61‑year‑old female driver of the Tahoe, also from Blue Springs, did not report injuries at the scene. Officers from the Independence Police Department assisted, and the crash remains under investigation.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.
