Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Missouri

Pedestrian crashes remain some of the deadliest incidents in Kansas City. Busy routes like Southwest Trafficway and intersections such as 31st Street create dangerous conditions for people walking. With no protection against vehicles, even a moderate-speed crash can turn deadly.

Some leading causes of deadly pedestrian crashes in Missouri include:

  • Distracted Driving: Phones, GPS, or other in-car distractions take attention off the road.
  • Speeding: Higher speeds make crashes more violent and reduce the chance to stop in time.
  • Failure to Yield: Drivers often ignore crosswalks or fail to give pedestrians the right of way.
  • Driving Under the Influence: Alcohol or drugs slow reaction time and impair judgment.
  • Low Visibility: Darkness, poor lighting, and bad weather make it harder to see people crossing.

Losing a loved one in a pedestrian crash leaves families heartbroken and facing unexpected financial strain. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of support can feel overwhelming.

Missouri law allows families to pursue a wrongful death claim to seek justice and compensation for these losses. However, insurance companies often work to reduce payouts or blame the victim.

That’s why having a brave and accomplished death lawyer matters. A skilled attorney can investigate the crash, prove negligence, and fight for the financial security your family needs after such a tragedy.
