Kansas City, KS (January 24, 2026) – A Kansas City car accident involving three vehicles caused injuries and traffic delays along I-70 Eastbound near 61st St on the evening of January 23. The crash occurred around 5:42 p.m. in Wyandotte County and was investigated by Kansas Highway Patrol unit K146.
Authorities say traffic began to slow in lane 2 of the eastbound lanes when a 2024 Ram truck driven by 38-year-old Ruslan Hrekov of Owings Mills, Maryland, collided into the rear of a 2016 Nissan Altima. The Nissan, driven by 42-year-old Geoslan Sanchez Lopez from Miami, was then pushed forward into a 2021 Kia Seltos operated by 25-year-old Syndel Jade Young of Kansas City.
Young was wearing her seatbelt and was not physically injured. However, a 26-year-old passenger in her vehicle, identified as Y.M. Henriquez-Orellan of New York, was transported to KU Medical Center with injuries. Sanchez Lopez and Hrekov also did not report physical injuries at the scene. All vehicles had valid insurance.
