Wyandotte County, KS (June 8, 2026) – A Kansas City car accident involving three vehicles left one driver seriously injured Monday afternoon at K-7 and Parallel Parkway. The crash occurred on June 8, 2026, at approximately 1:32 p.m. in Wyandotte County.
According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2006 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on K-7 when it failed to slow for traffic stopped at a red light. A 2020 Kia Niro and a 2022 Ram 1500 were already stopped in the northbound lanes. The Ford rear-ended the Kia, pushing it forward into the Ram.
The driver of the Ford F-150 was identified as 44-year-old Travis Dean West of Leavenworth, Kansas. He sustained suspected minor injuries and was not wearing a safety restraint. The Ford was towed by Heartland Tow and removed to a lot. Officials noted the vehicle did not carry insurance.
The driver of the Kia Niro, 44-year-old Chandler Wesly Hayward of Ponca City, Oklahoma, sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to KU Medical Center. He was wearing a safety restraint at the time of the collision. The Kia was also removed by Heartland Tow.
The driver of the 2022 Ram 1500 was 73-year-old Ronald Waymon Helm of Olathe, Kansas. His passenger, 68-year-old Carol T. Helm of Olathe, Kansas, reported no apparent injuries. Both were wearing safety restraints. The Ram was towed from the scene. Traffic along northbound K-7 was temporarily impacted while crews assisted victims and cleared the roadway. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
