Pedestrian Accidents in Missouri

Jackson Co., MO – Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Ashland Ave near 20th StMissouri consistently reports numerous pedestrian accidents each year, many of which result in severe injuries or fatalities. In 2023, pedestrian fatalities made up a significant portion of traffic-related deaths statewide, often resulting from issues like speeding, poor road conditions, or driver inattention.

Pedestrians are especially vulnerable in crashes involving large vehicles like dump trucks due to their size and limited maneuverability. The aftermath of such incidents often leaves families devastated and seeking answers.

Here are key issues contributing to pedestrian accidents:

  • Limited Visibility – Drivers in large vehicles often face blind spots, making it harder to see pedestrians. These blind zones increase the likelihood of accidents, especially in low-light conditions.

  • Distracted Driving – Using phones or other distractions reduces reaction times, increasing the risk of hitting pedestrians.
