Kansas City, MO (June 23, 2026) – A Kansas City car accident left one person injured Monday afternoon near the interchange connecting Interstate 29 and Interstate 35 in Clay County.
Authorities were dispatched to the crash scene at approximately 4:43 p.m. on June 22 at the southbound I-29 exit ramp to northbound I-35. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision involved a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe and a 2009 GMC Yukon.
Investigators reported that the Hyundai was traveling behind the GMC when traffic slowed. The Hyundai subsequently struck the rear of the Yukon, causing damage to both vehicles.
The Hyundai was driven by a 22-year-old woman from Raytown, Missouri. The GMC was operated by a 49-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri. Both drivers were reported to have been wearing safety restraints at the time of the collision.
The driver of the GMC sustained minor injuries and later sought medical treatment at North Kansas City Hospital via private conveyance. The Hyundai sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene, while the GMC sustained minor damage and was driven away following the investigation.
Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
