Overland Park, KS (April 13, 2026) – A hit-and-run crash left a 63-year-old woman injured Sunday afternoon along Interstate 35. The Overland Park car accident occurred on April 12, 2026, at approximately 12:15 p.m. on I-35 southbound near mile marker 230.3, just north of Antioch Road in Johnson County.
According to reports, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound in Lane 3 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle moved to the left and began to rotate. The Chevrolet then struck the concrete barrier median wall. After the initial impact, the Silverado was hit by a second vehicle that left the scene before authorities arrived.
The Chevrolet Silverado ultimately came to rest facing south in the grassy area between the interstate lanes and the exit ramp to Antioch Road. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Almighty Tow Service.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 63-year-old Coritha A. Smith of Topeka, Kansas, was transported to KU Medical Center with complaints of pain. She was wearing a safety restraint at the time of the crash. Information regarding the second vehicle involved remains unknown, as it fled the scene. The Kansas Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash.
