Greenton, MO (May 15, 2026) – A Greenton car accident on Thursday afternoon left a 19-year-old woman seriously injured after a collision involving an SUV and a semi-truck on Interstate 70. The crash occurred at approximately 2:28 p.m. on May 14 along I-70 westbound near mile marker 39.2 in Lafayette County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck took place as westbound traffic slowed due to a separate crash ahead. Authorities reported that a white Hyundai Tucson overtook slowing traffic and struck the rear of a 2006 Kenworth W900 before traveling off the roadway and into a ditch.
The 19-year-old female driver of the Hyundai, from Louisburg, Kansas, was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident. Her vehicle sustained total damage and was removed from the scene by R & S Tow. She suffered serious injuries and was transported by LifeFlight to Research Medical Center for emergency treatment.
The driver of the Kenworth, a 35-year-old male from Cinton, Missouri, was also wearing a safety device. His semi-truck sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene following the accident. Additional assistance at the crash site was provided by Trooper J. M. Haines, Trooper J. W. Hunter, the Odessa Police Department, and Sni Valley Fire & EMS. The car accident remains under investigation.
