Kidder, MO (August 8, 2026) – A fatal Kidder truck accident involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer claimed the lives of two people Thursday morning at the intersection of Highway J and U.S. Highway 36 in Caldwell County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. on August 6. Authorities reported that a 2022 Ford F-150 was traveling north on Highway J while a 2011 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer was traveling west on U.S. Highway 36. The two vehicles collided within the intersection, and the tractor-trailer entered a skid before impact.
The Ford sustained severe damage in the collision. The driver, an 87-year-old man from Kidder, was transported to Cameron Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. An 82-year-old female passenger from Kidder was taken to Liberty Hospital, where she also succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Freightliner was also injured and transported to a hospital in Cameron for treatment of injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
Emergency crews remained at the intersection for an extended period while they assisted those involved, documented the crash scene, and cleared debris from the roadway. Traffic in the area was affected during the investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
