Kansas City, MO (May 21, 2026) – A fatal car accident in Kansas City on Wednesday evening left one person dead and four others seriously injured after an SUV crashed into a parked vehicle and a tree in the northeast part of the city. The crash was reported just before 8:15 p.m. on May 21 along East Ninth Street near Cleveland Avenue.
According to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, a Cadillac Escalade was traveling eastbound on Ninth Street when it failed to navigate a curve. The SUV left the roadway, struck a parked car, continued forward, and then hit a large tree.
Police reported that the driver was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and transported to a hospital in critical condition. A front-seat passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.
Three juveniles who were seated in the rear of the Escalade were also injured in the fatal car accident in Kansas City. Officials stated that one of the juveniles is a teenager and two are under the age of 10. All three were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries and are reported to be in stable condition.
