Kansas City, MO (May 21, 2026) – A fatal car accident in Kansas City on Wednesday evening left one person dead and four others seriously injured after an SUV crashed into a parked vehicle and a tree in the northeast part of the city. The crash was reported just before 8:15 p.m. on May 21 along East Ninth Street near Cleveland Avenue.

According to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, a Cadillac Escalade was traveling eastbound on Ninth Street when it failed to navigate a curve. The SUV left the roadway, struck a parked car, continued forward, and then hit a large tree.

Police reported that the driver was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and transported to a hospital in critical condition. A front-seat passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.
