Perry, KS (June 16, 2026) – A woman from Olathe lost her life following a fatal boat accident in Perry Lake on Sunday evening in Jefferson County.
The crash was reported at approximately 6 p.m. on June 14 in the Slough Creek arm of Perry Lake between Perry Marina and the Slough Creek bridge. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews responded after receiving reports of a serious injury collision involving two watercraft.
Authorities said the crash involved two personal watercraft operated by individuals who were part of the same group and knew each other. Investigators with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks reported that Hannah Heflin, 22, of Olathe, suffered fatal injuries in the collision.
Officials stated that Heflin was wearing a life jacket at the time of the crash and was immediately brought to shore by members of her party. Despite those efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.
Jefferson County Sheriff Timothy Bacon confirmed that Carter Page, 20, of Atchison, was arrested by Kansas Wildlife and Parks officers in connection with vehicular homicide. Page was booked into the Jefferson County Jail in Oskaloosa at approximately 10:26 p.m. Sunday and later released after posting bond.
